VAKTHUSØYA
Sommerferien min ble avsluttet med en uke i vakre Nord-Norge. Jeg fikk oppleve Lofoten på sitt aller beste sammen med fire fine venninner. Vi leide et idyllisk hus på en liten øy rett utenfor Henningsvær. Med huset fulgte en liten båt så vi kunne komme oss til og fra Henningsvær. Det var litt stress til tider men på en eller annen måte så gjorde det også turen. Vi koste oss så mye på den lille øyen; rabarbra i hagen, sol (nesten) døgnet rundt, vakker natur, svaberg og hvite trehus. Perfekt norsk sommer.

My summer vacation ended with a week in beautiful Northern Norway. I got to experience Lofoten at its best with four great girlfriends. We rented an idyllic house on a small island just outside Henningsvær. A small boat came with the house and this was our transport to and from the mainland. It was a little stressful at times yet somehow this also made the trip. We really enjoyed ourselves on this little island; rhubarb in the garden, sun all day and almost all night, rocky mountains and white wooden houses. A perfect Norwegian summer. 

HAUKLANDSTRANDA
Naturen i Lofoten er veldig spesiell med sine spisse fjell og nydelige sandstrender. Vi tok en utflukt til Hauklandstranda som er en vakker sandstrand med lysegrønt vann. Det er flere fjelltopper rundt stranden og vi gikk opp den mest kjente som de kaller for “Mannen”. Det er en fin og kort fjelltur med en fantastisk utsikt over Hauklandstranda. Selv om det er mye folk så vil jeg anbefale den.

The nature of Lofoten is very special with its rugged mountains and white sandy beaches. We took an excursion to Haukland Beach which is a beautiful sandy beach with light green water. There are several mountain peaks around the beach and the most famous one is called «Mannen». It is a nice and short hike with a fantastic view over Haukland Beach. I highly recommend it.

Etter turen skiftet vi og la oss ned på stranden. Vannet var iskaldt men sanden myk og varm. Det var så vakkert der! Vi tok et lite bad i det iskalde vannet og koste oss resten av dagen der.

After the trip we changed clothes and settled down on the beach. The water was freezing but the sand was soft and warm. It was so beautiful! We took a small bath in the icy water and spent the rest of the day there.

TREVAREFEST
På mandagen startet Trevarefest på Trevarefabrikken, en liten festival midt i Henningsvær. Vi kjenner to av de som startet Trevarefabrikken og det var utrolig gøy å endelig få se hva de har fått til. Resten av året er Trevarefabrikken en slags kulturell møteplass som har blant annet kafe, bar, hotellrom, sauna og arrangementer. Hvis du tenker å besøke Lofoten eller trenger en unnskyldning så må du ta turen innom Trevarefabrikken.

On Monday, Trevarefest started at Trevarefabrikken. This is a small festival in the middle of Henningsvær. We know two of those who founded Trevarefabrikken, and it was so much fun to finally visit and see what they have accomplished. For the rest of the year Trevarefabrikken is cultural meeting place, which also includes a cafe, a bar, hotel rooms, a sauna and events. If you are planning to visit Lofoten or just need an excuse, then you must visit Trevarefabrikken

BURSDAGSFEIRING
Tre av dagene våre i Lofoten gikk til festival og litt bursdagsfeiring. Det har alltid vært litt kjedelig med bursdag midt på sommeren men bursdagsfeiring på jentetur kan virkelig anbefales. Jeg våknet opp til verdens koseligste frokost i hagen med jentene, til lunsj hadde vi hjemmelaget rabarbrapai og Aperol Spritz og på kvelden var vi på Trevarefest. Solen strålte og det var en helt fantastisk dag.

We spent three off our days in Lofoten on the festival and a small birthday celebration. It has always been a little boring having birthday in the middle of summer, when everyones away on holidays, but celebrating your birthday on a girls trip can really be recommended. I woke up to a perfect breakfast   in the garden with the girls. At lunch we had homemade rhubarb pie and Aperol Spritz and in the evening we went to Trevarefest. The sun was shining and it was an absolutely amazing day.

RIDETUR PÅ GIMSØYSAND
I løpet av uken fikk vi også oppleve litt av Lofoten på hesteryggen. En liten gård bare en halvtime unna Henningsvær arrangerte de alle slags turer på Islandshester. Siden vi er tidligere hestejenter så var det veldig gøy å kunne velge en tur med litt fart. Det finnes ingen bedre måte å oppleve nye steder på. De arrangerte også en midnattssoltur som jeg skulle ønske vi fikk med oss. Neste gang.

Etter en uke i Lofoten så vet jeg med sikkerhet at jeg skal tilbake.

During our week we also got to experience Lofoten horseback riding. There was a small farm just a half hour away from Henningsvær that arranged all sorts of trips with Icelandic Horses. Since we all used to ride when we where younger it was so much fun to go on a trip with a little speed. They also had a midnight sun-trip that I wish we could have gone on, maybe next time! 

After a week in Lofoten I know that I have to go back sometime.
