SOMMERFERIEN DEL 1

I traveled to Nice to meet my boyfriend who had been on a cycling trip in the Alps. I booked an apartment through Airbnb and I was actually pleasantly surprised. It was a bright and modern apartment right on Avenue Jean Médecin which is the main shopping street. It was a perfect location for a few days in town. I have not been to Nice since I was there on a school trip in high school. I was alone the first day and wanted to have a look around, but it was so hot that I just had to go straight to the beach. I was wearing a pair of new leather sandals that gave me blisters for the rest of my vacation. Ouch!

I went to Ruhl Plage which is a beach club at Promenade des Anglais. Since the beach in Nice is made of large pebbles, it can be both difficult and painful to go into the water without shoes. Ruhl Plage has a small pier so you can go straight from the sun bed and climb into the water. It was absolutely perfect in the boiling heat. They served good food and the service was nice. We actually ended up spending another day at Ruhl Plage.

If you are used to a late dinner you should reconsider going a little bit earlier Nice. We were going to dinner around ten a clock and discovered that almost all of the resturants were closed. I guess this is normal in France? Fortunately we found a very nice place that took us in just before closing time. Mon Petit Café proved to be a great surprise with delicious food, they are actually included in this year’s Michelin guide.

We also had dinner in the old town, you can go there and just pick one of the many popular restaurants. I was recommended the avocado ice cream at Fenocchio, but since I love coconut I had to go for that one. The queue was completely wild but it was worth the wait. They has so many different flavors, some were a little bit more

On the last day we tried SUP for the first time. I thought it was going to be hard but it was a great laugh. As long as I placed my legs in the middle of the board it was easier to keep my balance. There was also very little that happened in the water so it was a very super first-time experience at SUP.

Nice is a beautiful city but it lasts a few days unless traveling a bit around for example Antibes, Monaco or Juan-les-Pins. After three days, we rented a car and drove to Saint-Tropez …
